Doncella Cinema Film Group Founded 2022

About the Group

Doncella Cinema is an independent film group born in Argentina with roots that branch internationally.

Our name, doncella — maiden, vessel, keeper of thresholds — speaks to our understanding of cinema as a ritual space. Films, for us, are ceremonies: gatherings around the fire of the image, around the persistent human need to metabolize experience through story.

Founded in 2022, the group has produced work that travels between documentary and fiction, between the Patagonian steppe, the Scandinavian fjords, and the Polynesian shores, always following the thread of what is ancestral, strange, and unresolved. Our films have been shaped in collaboration with communities, with landscapes, and with the particular light of places that feel on the edge of something.

We are a small group working with precision. We believe in the power of radical economy: doing more with less, trusting the frame, trusting the audience. We are interested in the cinema that asks questions it cannot answer, and in the audiences willing to sit inside that uncertainty.
